well its been quite some time since i updated this thing. i CANT believe its already april!! this school year has gone by extremly fast! the weather has been so nice(except for last nite) and today was opening day for major league baseball, spring is finally here!! The choir trip to chicago is this thursday- sunday, and yes we will be going to wrigley field, but due to the fact that shopping has been prioritized higher than the cubs, we will not be attending a game. How pathetic is that! I hope evryone is doing good, summer is right around the corner!!
-- The topic came up in English class today( we have some very random yet intresting disscussions in his class) on whether someone had to be a Christian or "saved" to get to heaven. As it would be expected, most of the class completly agreeded with this statement. I however, not wanting to stir anything up sat quietly and thought about this question. I believe( and please feel free to disagree with me , it wont hurt my feelings) that being a Christian is not the only "criteria" for one's entrance or acceptance into heaven. Us Christians believe that our God created the heavens and the Earth as well as all its inhabitants.Nowhere in my 16 years have i heard that because someone is not a Christian that they were not created with the same love and compassion as the rest of us were. God is our shephed, and we are his sheep. He does not want us to stray from his flock. I believe that living a morally and ethically correct life whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc. is all it takes to spend eternity wit our Father. Some of this world's finest people were not Christian. Mahatma Ghandi for example( im confident that you all are aware of the role he played in our world so i wont insult your intelligence by explaining it further.) I just find it very hard to believe( and quite disturbing) that a person like him with such great character would be denied eternal peace because he did not share the same beliefs as us.
>I didnt mean to insult or offend anyone, but that discussion in class kinda " hit home" with me and i wanted to share my thoughts.
>>Artist: Brad Paisley (ft. Dolly Parton) Song: When I Get Where I'm Going
When I get where I'm going On the far side of the sky The first thing that I'm gonna do Is spread my wings and fly
I'm gonna land beside a lion And run my fingers through his mane Or I might find out what it's like To ride a drop of rain
Yeah when I get where I'm going There'll be only happy tears I will shed the sins and struggles I have carried all these years And I'll leave my heart wide open I will love and have no fear Yeah when I get where I'm going Don't cry for me down here
I'm gonna walk with my grand daddy And he'll match me step for step And I'll tell him how I missed him Every minute since he left Then I'll hug his neck
Yeah when I get where I'm going There'll be only happy tears I will shed the sins and struggles I have carried all these years And I'll leave my heart wide open I will love and have no fear Yeah when I get where I'm going Don't cry for me down here
So much pain and so much darkness In this world we stumble through All these questions I can't answer So much work to do
But when I get where I'm going And I see my maker's face I'll stand forever in the light Of his amazing grace Yeah when I get where I'm going There'll be only happy tears Hallelujah I will love and have no fear When I get where I'm going Yeah when I get where I'm going |
